Junior Flying Ducks Spring Tour 2017

UIS logo 200

Our team’s players are aged from 4 to 18 and they are a passionate bunch from all types of backgrounds. Our main aim in the club is to make the sport of Ice Hockey accessible to any kid who wants to play. We do not currently have an ice rink in the Republic of Ireland, which makes developing the sport a challenge. However we have a dedicated team of committee members, parents and of course players making sure that our kids are provided with the best possible opportunity to play and progress in the sport. We train and compete on inline skates, temporary Christmas ice rinks and regularly travel to Belfast to avail of their full size ice rink to keep the sport alive.

Next spring we have been invited to march in the Montreal Saint Patrick’s day parade which is a real honour for our club. The organising committee in Montreal are also arranging for our team to participate in other events whilst we are there. We will also be availing of numerous offers of showcase games (approx. 5 games). Having access to full time ice and additional coaches during this trip will of course will be of great benefit to our players.

This is the first time a Junior Irish Ice Hockey team will participate in a major international St Patrick’s Day parade. We will have aggressive social media coverage of the trip both in Ireland and Canada. Don’t forget these kids and our club receive €0 government investment.
